950 cases of ceasefire violation by Pak in last three months19 November, 2019
Around 950 cases of ceasefire violation by Pakistan were reported along the Line of Control in the last three months -- August to October. This data of ceasefire violations was provided by Shripad Naik, Minister of State for Defence said in a written response to a question in the Rajya Sabha on November 18.
“Pakistan has been resorting to ceasefire violations along the Line of Control. There have been 950 incidents of ceasefire violations along the Line of Control during the last three months.”
While the LoC witnessed 950 cases of unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan, the International Border (IB) along the Jammu region reported 79 such incidents. Three security personnel have been martyred and seven injured in the ceasefire violations along the LoC and the IB.
Naik also said that all ceasefire violations and infiltration were taken up with Pakistan authorities through hotlines, flag meetings, Directorate Generals of Military Operations (DGMO) talks and diplomatic means between the two countries.
There has been a surge in the incidents of ceasefire violations along the LoC by Pakistan especially after the Indian government’s decision to abrogate Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir on August 5. The Indian armed forces carried out an appropriate retaliation to all the ceasefire violations.
